Press Release (15th February 2012)
According to Google Dictionary; "Band" means:
"A group of people who have a common interest or purpose"
That pretty much covers the nature of a musical band/group & the passion behind our
style of music. However, there are a lot of factors which contribute to a line up not being able to function: time constraints,
funds, other commitments and travel are amongst them. And they have all affected Sacred Heart in one way or another and is
no-one's fault.
The catalyst for all
we've done and our reason for being are the songs of Paul Stead, but everyone has contributed their talents: from performing
live, recording, and adding to those original ideas which have made them the finished article.
Which makes it a real shame that the current, and longest running
Sacred Heart line up has come to an end.
In
Mark Stephenson a talented lead guitarist has been lost - he's never received the plaudits his sublime soloing deserves.
The pounding rhythm section of long time servant Darren Jhuboo (bass) and drummer Dave Thurlby will be missed on the live
front and as a unit, that tightness will be hard to recreate.
But time passing allows challenges and obstacles to grow, Mark, Darren and Dave's contribution
will be forever appreciated and they leave Sacred Heart on good terms, and we all remain great friends.
Sacred Heart has always been Paul's project, and will continue
to be an outlet for his songs - so in essence, nothing has changed. Just the people who play them.
A new album is on the way, and will continue where "Propaganda"
left off - it's the end of an era, but not the end of Sacred Heart.....
